All true, just my question was why the samples weren't coded using NPR's own coding system, with the lab not knowing the origin. The explanation offered by [@faduda](https://mastodon.ie/@faduda ) made sense to me (ensure the original milk container hasn't been tampered with). Also, excluding contamination by repackaging.
In my country, you can often find "Regularly tested by institute/lab Blah" on food packages. If a lab interfered like this, it would be an instant blow to its reputation.
