There is a conflict between two branches of the state in South Korea.
Even with the lifting of the martial law, demanded by the National Assembly, the president still has to lift the martial law personally and he has no intention of doing so.
As long as the military is on his side, the National Assembly is powerless. The coup is not over.
The answer will come from the military, if they stick with the president it will have long lasting very negative effect on the country's democracy.
