widespread temperature recordings are, at best, 200 years duration and not globally representative.
proxies from ice cores, tree rings, and sediment cores - even if an accurate proxy - provide local sampling and not global temperature.
and yet we can get to ⅒ of a degree accuracy!?
we should also note that this graph shows a 1.2 ⁰C range over 2000 years.
