CDs are awesome. I'm sad I lost my collection over the years, but I'm excited to be rebuilding it.
CDs have been around pretty much my entire life (around 40 years) and that entire time they have offered close to perfect HD audio. The dynamic range and sample rate ensure the digital data can be decoded into an analog wave that is not perceptible by humans to be different from analog signal that was recorded in.
CDs don't have to be rewound. CDs don't have to be flipped over mid album. CDs are easy to backup. CD cases are easy to replace and made like new.
You can get blank CDs for pennies, a burner for a few dollars, and make mixtapes with lossless copies for friends. CDs are cheap to ship. They are easy to store. Because 4K blu ray, blu ray, and DVD players are all backwards compatible with CDs you can get a decent player for a couple dollars as well.
I've been buying vinyl and cassettes for the novelty when supporting artists the past few years, but I think I'm pretty sold on switching back to CDs.
Anyway, I just think they're neat.
