Let's say I own a company that sells Grutlemps. 90% of my revenue comes from exporting them to the US.
Suddenly, trump decides he's going to put a 100% tariff on them, effectively doubling their price in the US and simply killing that market for me.
Which seems more likely?
1 - I shrug, fire everyone and shut down.
2 - I look for a different market for them where I can still make a profit selling them.
I may have to accept a lower profit due to increased shipping costs, but why would
