Asus was Taiwanese but it seems with the shifting loyalties there isn't much brand-loyalty you can rely on in that part of the world. Not _entirely_ their fault the US govt is pulling on their marionette strings.
I think for anyone to do 'vintage computing' this is a good time. Supply chain of parts is still mostly intact vs. new products that really aren't very interesting.
