New Mexico - land of enchantment đď¸ the place where "Dust to Settle" came into being. The first single off this new EP hits the streaming thingies in one week. In trying to come up with this post, I got to go through touring photos and reminisce on the long drives and wild landscapes. New Mexico is weird and beautiful and mysterious all at once. At shows, I often tell the story that this song was inspired by a billboard along I-10 in New Mexico that reads "WAIT until the dust settles". I took advantage of the long drive ahead of me and this prompt from the universe to write a song about patience. About taking a moment to regroup before running headlong into the storm. Sometimes I feel like if I just keep charging ahead, all the baggage, stress, problems, will get left behind. But of course we've all seen enough rom-coms and Hallmark movies to know that doesn't work very well. This song is about slowing down, accepting your circumstances, and moving forward when you're ready. Coming to Wavlake Jan 15th.
