The core of the ideology is whatever most stably upholds a wealthy class of elites. I'll give an example: when #republican lawmakers don't wanthey give minorities rights or prevent companies from screwing regular people over but don't have a good reason, they claim #StatesRights. States should decide the #education standards or lack thereof. States should decide if businesses can poison your community. States should decide if you can get an #abortion. States should decide what #rights workers have. We fought our only #CivilWar over whether or not states should be able to decide if you can own slaves and trade in human lives directly.\n\nBut name just ONE TIME #American #conservatives have denied themselves ANYTHING they wanted on the basis of states' rights. When they wanted to ban abortion, they tried it at the federal level just recently. When they wanted to ban #cannabis to protect established businesses, they did it at the federal level. When they didn't want to give up #slavery entirely, they put protections for slave #labor in prison in our fucking #constitution. States should always retain the right to uphold a wealthy class of elites in the eyes of #conservativism. That's the only true tenet of #conservative #political ideology.
