I find it really odd that Emacs doesn't ship with a builtin Markdown mode. Every time I start with a fresh .emacs.d I'm surprised that my .md files are all in black and white and I must do a
M-x package-install RET markdown-mode
M-x revert-buffer
Note a huge deal, and with something like (use-package :ensure t) I'm all good, but it's still surprising. I mean, Emacs even has a mode for WordStar!
