It really annoys me when people don't like a story because they don't like what happens to the characters or if something goes badly. Or they don't like a character because they think they are a bad person.
A story should make you react emotionally. And sometimes that emotion makes you uncomfortable. That is NOT a bad story. It's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. A bad story is one that makes you feel nothing.
