The process was the same for my other accounts. Also this isn't Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc and it is rather rude and hypocritical to expect a platform trying to decentralize and get away from all that garbage to appease the masses with features that have shown to cause problems. Sorry, but if you and others don't like what Mastodon is doing than this isn't for you and you should go onto Bluesky or whatever.
From my experiences so far there hasn't have been many issues with how things have been and unless the devs are explicitly trying to play the authoritarian I don't see why they should appease everyone and make the platforms exactly like every other social media platform.
