Focusing on optics to prove you’re not violent and peaceful is bullshit imo. Focusing on optics is a losing game.
Why focus on optics over actual change? Clinging to respectability politics is rooted in white supremacy. Optics and respectability politics have never brought anyone any kind of change, freedom or liberation. Why try to appeal to our oppressors when our oppressors have proven to us that they have no conscious. Police sanctioned marches that were really just pro Palestine parades have been getting called violent for over half a year. They will call you violent and a terrorist no matter how you choose to protest. People love talking about the civil rights movement but fail to remember the militant pressure that was applied then. Also, property destruction is not violence. You’re worried about some spray paint and broken windows? Wait until you hear about the 40,000 Palestinians murdered in this genocide since October (a number that is likely much, much higher).
