I was wondering about the terms “closet queen" (a clandestine gay man) and "hangar queen” (an airplane kept for parts) and wondering which came first. Also the related terms “drama queen" and "drag queen.” Looks like “hangar queen” is the earliest, dating from WWII, with “drag queen” and “closet queen” being uncommon until about 1960. But I can't say for sure that "closet queen" is related to "hangar queen.”
