I specifically felt the need to tell a teenage girl interested in trades asking me about sexism today that the systems businesses put in place and the words people say will never prevent the abuse and sexism from happening and that when it does it can and will warp your sense of safety and self over time. It has changed my sense of trust in every man I know and has given me tools I never wanted to wield to weigh the value of my personal defense against what I stand to lose in a challenge.
