“The only reason men and women have separate categories in sports like darts and chess is because men hate losing to women.”

It’s true for darts, but not for chess. There isn’t a men category at chess. There is a general category and a women category. It’s something women players have demanded in order to encourage other women to compete in what is a otherwise a pretty male dominated environment.
Segregated spaces are only ever useful when they arose from an explicit demand of the marginalized to help them fight against the discriminatory practices they are subject to. Let’s not invisibilise their work when it’s the case.
