I worked two years, 13 to 40 hours a week, in the scale room/front office at the local landfill. It was more interesting than you would think, but still not great. And, being TX, I was underpaid.
(Fun things: the woman who wanted the recycling bins painted green; the call from one of our drivers about a dead ostrich in a dumpster; the city guy who wanted to know where the wood from a demolition was going - "Not Here" was all we could tell him.)
