"summary",
"The spotted lanternfly, an invasive pest, has spread across the East Coast and Midwest, causing damage to crops and trees. To combat this, researchers have deployed four dogs trained to sniff out the insect's eggs. The dogs have already found over 4,000 egg masses, potentially eradicating 200,000 of the bugs. The dogs were trained through a research project led by Virginia Tech University and are able to detect the eggs in just a few hours."
