I would attribute this to Kurt Godel's assertion that he'd found a logical flaw in the constitution which allowed a dictatorship to arise legally within the constitution.
Except, I don't think any of those involved have the intellect to even understand the constitution.
Rather, Day 1 - trump says "to hell with it" and literally tears up the constitution.
I understand HMG is considering contingencies for trump 2.0.
