I read about Waltz's profound hearing loss. Hearing was so impaired that he had trouble hearing his little girl's voice.
This clearly explains why Waltz would not have been physically fit to serve. It shouldn't even be necessary to discuss this, but here we are. The man served for 24 years and retired honorably.
That should be the end of the story.
