the only one I remember I wanted to work on old morrowind was a sixth house mod.

for a fan work, it was pretty good, added decent lore.

then the game crashes when I try to ascend further.

I think most of the mods could be ported over, but the people who made them, if they’re still active, relied enough on the Script Extender that they don’t want to re-learn how to mod.

And, iirc, the creators of openMW don’t want to add kludge from the Script Extender to make those mods work.

Something like that. I might be wrong.
