I can't stress enough what a difference it makes to people to simply show a tiny bit of appreciation for what they do.
Nothing is more motivating to me than just hearing that I made a difference. And yet, so many people are allergic to showing gratitude.
Have spent a lot of time around people recently who prefer the opposite of appreciation, where you absolutely never say anything nice and reserve all communication for complaints. And I can tell you such people are a drain on society.
