There is definitely a rhythm to the process. Late 1990s and early 2000s, China/Taiwan was copy everything foreign. Very little difference in music or fashion between China and USA.

Next three years this trend continued in music with the early “China Wave” and lots of young adults reading swordsman fiction that used to just be for the weird nerds.
