Well, sorta. The Cray-1 did FLOPS on what we would call actual numbers. Its floats were 64 bits. This Nvidia machine does FLOPS on FP4 data. That’s 4 bits, so each one stores one of 16 possible values, typically: -8, -4, -2, -1, 1, 2, 4, or 8. Sometimes a FLOP is only technically a FLOP.

Maybe shave a factor of 10 off the comparison and call it good
