It has always seemed to me that there is much overlap between shutting down the government, what happened on January 6, and the rise of anti-federal government militias in the 1990s.
Since the Civil War amendments and the New Deal, dismantling the federal government has been a libertarian goal.
This is where Christian nationalists (who resent a secular federal government), libertarians, and militias find a common cause.
