You have a point, but it's not a very good one. Amazon can afford to slash prices for a number of reasons most of them directly related to its sheer size and reach while local businesses cannot afford that at all.
I'm not saying you should buy local and pay more, I'm just saying you shouldn't hate the local business for charging more. They usually don't have a choice.
