i saw that someone cool is getting hazed for having a past. so i'm going to share that i used to say paramisic and anti-yap and cisnormative shit to fit in with my former friends. in the 2010s i had "edgy" humor (as in i had unremarkable, painfully common white 'wit') and i started out pretty misogynistic and conservative-minded, changing in many stages and very gradually to the point where i am now openly identifying as a mad queer pedo commie
i've admitted all of this before and people gave me patience and sympathy, understanding that a good number of us had different lives before we started being pro-para. yet if this same fact about me was confirmed by someone else shoving receipts from one of my old socmed accounts in my face, people would then come in ready to attack over the exact same knowledge about me.
it really is toxic to obsess about "researching potential threats to the community" like this. it would be one thing to discover evidence that someone is actively lying about who they are and are pulling a Carol Marinara on us, but if they had takes in a previous off-platform account that you disagree with and you want to drag them to start an argument about it, just stop please
