I've only visited Clacton once so far as I recall - I flew in one Sunday to see how I coped with a short grass runway with a footpath across the middle of it.
My main recollection of Clacton itself was having to make several attempts to find some lunch, the first couple of places nearest to the airfield having loooong queues of pensioners for the "Sunday roast" (not what I wanted), being the only thing on the menu.
