If you release software without a license at all, then the only people who can reproduce it are:
* people with your permission, obviously;
* people who are willing to take on faith that you won't sue them; and
* people who are willing to take on faith that you _can't_ sue them.
You lock out a lot of wealthy but very risk-averse users this way.
Something to think on.
