On this Friday afternoon I'm reminded of the boss years ago who scheduled a mandatory all-hands meeting at 8am Monday, and another at 5pm Friday every single week. The former was a weekly stand-up/sync-up while the latter was a retrospective with an "employee of the week" award.
This boss was from the startup founder school of "employees should work minimum 80hr weeks." Everyone knew it was a not-so-sneaky way to ensure people showed up at the office early on Monday and stayed late on Friday.
