I have mixed feelings about the death of the 27" iMac. As someone who likes to swap out both frequently, I've never been a fan of tethering the display to the CPU. But it was arguably the best Mac for development for a number of years. User upgradable RAM, great display and a decent config was “affordable" (at least as much as any Mac is).
IMO the Studio is a better replacement, unless Apple jacks up the M3 price. But would like to see some Apple monitors that aren't full of compromises.
