Another thing: a bunch of good mathematicians came to Mathstodon shortly after Musk took over Twitter. For a while it was lively. I was happy. Then most of them left, finding this place to be too quiet compared to Twitter. At that point, posting advance math stuff here started seeming pointless. Now I spend about an hour a day discussing math on the Category Theory Community server, a Zulip. I wish it weren't so focused on category theory, but there are a lot of people who enjoy sustained conversations about advanced math.
Over here, I get the most satisfying reactions when I post something explaining math or science in way that educated nonscientists can easily understand. People also seem to like the history of these subjects.
I keep tweaking my style, hoping to figure out things that are enjoyable for me and lots of other people.
