npub16uk4yyw47haxwl0klhh7lcx3qatkyqmpc6gc4hwru3qedaeuueeqqkpv7k (npub16uk…pv7k) expensive is of course relative, but this is the calculation I made:
With Google, I'm paying £25 (lets round that to €30) per year for 200GB.
With NextCloud I'd have to pay for a server (€7.19 per month) plus a 200GB volume (€10.56 per month) so a total of just over €200 per year, before I even think about backups.
Is €200 per year expensive? I'm grateful that it's not a life-changing amount for me, but it’s enough that I need to think about it. And either way it's 6+ times Google's cost.
But, to be fair, the main issue for me wasn't even the cost, but rather that I was unable to import my existing data.
