When you have a huge park of 200 MW where the plant factor is 40% (as an example) in the worst moment of the day you would have a 40% of that capacity working.
40 MW at least you are generating every day with a maximum of 200 MW.
So yes, it is unreliable when you want to use it at its maximum capacity.
