A shit ton of pertinent history isn't taught in UK HS but a key narrative from the tedious years spent on WWII is that the appeasement decision to allow Hitler's annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland (accompanied by mass civilian assassinations) was a huge mistake and made stopping Germany much harder. I dunno whether what the West is doing with Israel can rightly be called appeasement seeing as it's arming them, but Blinken's "diplomacy" defo has Chamberlain "peace in our time" vibes.
