The #bitcoin sits with your seed phrases which are hopefully in steel and spread out in multiple locations. Please stop this framing of the issue. Some people will not want to hold their own keys. Fine. You do not need to sell holding your own keys as a risk because the hardware to sign transactions is a plastic device. The issue is trusted custody partners, not a hardware one.
