My partner npub1v6ve864sqe38am0ctpj520g34qzvfzsvdjuc2g2w55echlhmhyxsxkku7a (npub1v6v…ku7a) and I have been working really hard to get self hosted solutions going for a number of web services, most importantly we're launching their art portfolio soon along with art sales & comms and we had gotten so damned close
Then Spectrum sent us a replacement modem and router after the old one finally kicked it. And this router... it fucking sucks. Y'all i have tried everything. I'm a tech person, I know what I'm doing, this thing is just *fucked*. Can't even re-flash it with OpenWRT. No way we can self host, let alone have a stable internet connection in our own home.
Spectrum does not want to replace, they want to send out a technician, which I already know is bullshit, and they want to bill us for it, which will cost as much or more than a new router anyway. So I just want to future proof myself from the beginning.
I don't have a specific model picked out. But I don't need something amazing, just something with 2.4ghz, 5ghz and some ethernet ports on the back that I can throw OpenWRT on.
Anything you can do is appreciated. We're kind of fucked over by this, pretty badly. #mutualaid
