This evening I received an e-mail from the chapter of a professional organization that I’m no longer a member of, inviting me to join their LinkedIn group, so that they can “highlight our supporters and their new products and services.”
In other words, ‘sign up so we can send you targeted advertising.’ Underlining the point, was a sales pitch below that for their winter “technology conference,” which is also a sales event.
The lack of actual events, and focus on sales, is why I’m not a member.
