Today my friends who are visiting gave talks at my university, and wow, the logistics of 3 astronomers keeping 4 children (including one with special needs) happy and quiet for a 1 hour talk are massive. We ended up bribing the 12yo to watch the 1yo outside the lecture hall by buying her boba tea, and the 7yo and 8yo were hypnotized by tablets.
I'm sure I could use this to say something about how the structure of academia is still awful for most people, but I'm too tired.
