The Tale of the Wayward Soul

My child, let wisdom be your guide,
Hold fast my words, letn't them slip aside.
Guard my lesson, as you guard your breath,
They will keep your soul from an early death.

Say to wisdom, “You are my kin,”
"Of proven advice, my heart be pinned."
They protect you from temptation’s snare,
From yearn that calls for mother's care.

Once I stood by window’s frame,
Looking out where night became.
A man walked slow, through Simple Street,
Un'ware of danger's path he beat.

He slid like a breeze, with no firm pace,
And soon he met her—a painted face.
With glance and a grin, she drew him in,
Clothed in whisper's promised sin.

Her voice cooed soft, with meaning deep,
Like a dream that pulls you to sleep.
“I’ve wanted you, my bed is turned,
Come, let us rustle 'til song of birds..

My husband’s gone; he’s far away,
Let’s fill our hearts upon the clay.”
She beckoned him with gentle hand,
And he followed her to trodden land.

Like a foul that finds a snare,
His heart was trapped, tho unaware.
Lead like an ox to butcher's door,
He knew not where his steps were tow'r.

Her house, a highway paved with regret,
Those who entered 'fore will not forget.
It seemed a sweet, but end was grim,
Many slain, wide eyed, like him.

So listen, child, do hear my plea:
Let wisdom guide your eyes to be.
Keep your feet far from that ground,
For this path will lead you down.
