Just read another update about another family death from an indigenous friend of mine. This makes 10 over the course of the pandemic for their family. All young, under 50. The person who posted has long COVID and can no longer work, had to move, and despite it all, somehow maintains hope. May I at least represent a little of that for them.
I will continue to take precautions not only to protect my family but to protect those marginalized by the systems that leave them behind daily. I don't have any white friends who have seen this amount of death in their families. I don't even think that most of my family/friends realize just how tilted this all is. The unrecognized privilege is disheartening, to say the least.
