The inventor of tiramisu, Roberto "Loli" Linguanotto, has died at age 81. Linguanotto, a pastry chef, is said to have created the dish in the early 1970s and originally called it "tirame sù" ("pick-me-up"). The recipe, which is now the favorite dessert of eight out of 10 Italians, did not appear in print until 1983. Here's more from Wanted in Rome.
