I've lived in 2 countries where Muslims outnumber Christians and visited India (where Muslims outnumber Christians) and the call to prayer is really not that annoying. (Until a few months ago, I lived within earshot of the mosque's loudspeaker here). I'm sure there's still a volume rule that the mosque in NYC will have to abide by. And with all of the traffic in NYC, no one will be able to hear it anyway.
