Had a pretty glaring case of FB snooping leading to targeted ads that could have most easily been derived by a unprompted microphone access. If it wasn't listening directly, then it may have been derived from device proximity on the basis of who the conversation was with. It's creepy regardless but hits home that internet privacy is a community issue. You can have a PiHole and the most restrictive device settings, but if an acquaintance is all loosey goosey with privacy, Big Data will find you.
