Something that’s irked me about Twitter isn’t the centralization. I’ve reset who I follow many times but still feel a chilling effect on what I can tweet there. Twitter now feels like the ‘persuasion’ app to me - where people go trying to advocate strongly for their world view. Tweet threads, mechanics catering to engagement all contribute to this. I’m interested in open protocols because of how many different types of applications can be built on the same message layer, optimizing towards different vectors. A vector of engagement and social persuasion. A vector of freedom of expression. Etc
