One thing that always kind of annoys me with dogwhistles is how they can just ruin shit forever. Like my favorite color scheme has been green and purple for like 15 years, and I feel weird using it in anything because of goddam 4chan/gamergate. Like I know this all happened a decade ago, and nobody probably cares anymore, but it still feels weird, y'know?
