i really wish more people on the left understood how to think like a politician. as in, *strategy.* sometimes you push initiatives that are destined to 'fail' because it keeps the issue in the news. sometimes you push something the public wants and that you know your enemies will vote against, so you can use that voting record as ammunition. every political action has multiple layers like this. not just the literal stated goal.
