This photo is from our walk this morning.
I wanted to share an experience, and the photo wanted to be seen, so here goes both shares, all at once.
Every weekday, my daughter and I protest on Highway 101, over the lunch hour.
Today, we ended up near a place where several people had signs asking for money.
Although, we were a ways up the road, a man left his coveted best spot next to a stoplight to come give me some advice. You see he thought I was asking for money instead of protesting. He was nicely trying to help me even though I would be competition. After he decided I might be a lost cause he pulled some balled up dollar bills out of his pocket and offered to give me $4. I was touched by his kindness as I turned his money down. I explained why we are protesting and he went back to his spot.
I found more of the spirit of generosity on that street corner today than exists among the most affluent. As we left I gave him my emergency fund from my wallet.
He deserved it.
