Capitalism is an economic system where the most violent, brutal people from the previous social/economic system, retained their access to wealth and political power but managed to convince people that they earned their power by hard work, ingenuity, and saving money, and that any poor peon could become a violent, brutal person with wealth if they worked hard enough for it too.
It's all a lie but being brutally, violently wealthy is tempting enough that most people went along with it.
