Sometimes that is a better, more productive life. One thing about being an ‘urban hermit’ is you can go to cafes, read, enjoy a cookie and coffee without losing ‘hermit’ status. When I lived in the city, it was a favorite thing to do; I always take a book everywhere I go, when I am able to go anyway.
