My vet says no starch
I feed just meat and green vegetables. I have a picky one too. I put either broccoli cuts or green beans in the Ninja to finely ground them then mix with the meat. My vet says it should be 2/3 meat, 1/3 veggies. I also add kelp meal and Camelina oil. They absolutely love their food and finish everything always. Grinding the veggies was the only way to get my boy to eat them. Ask your vet about the rice.
